Do you want to start running or get back into running? Richmond Road Runners Club (RRRC) has the perfect 6-week program to help you start and succeed. All runners and walkers welcome!
The New Runners Training will meet for six (6) weeks on Wednesday evenings (6:00-7:30 PM) at Richmond's Bryan Park. The first session is Wednesday May 12, 2021.
After introductions and a warm-up, the team will run or walk/run/walk together. The goal is to cover 1 mile the first week and then increase the distance by a ½ mile each week. Each evening's program will end with a cool-down, running tips from Coach Herv, and a recommended activity plan for the week.
By the end of the program, you will be able to run or run/walk for 3 miles or 5K (5 kilometers)...the distance of many popular local runs and races. RRRC has the Thanks Dad 5K on Sunday, June 20; the Cul-de-sac 5Ks on Monday evenings in July; and the Pony Pasture 5K (Date TBD).
The New Runners Training will meet at Bryan Park's Shelter 3 (across from the soccer fields). Runs will occur on the paved surfaces through the park.
The registration fee for the 6-week program is $5 plus a $1.29 online processing fee. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions.
Even if you miss the initial sessions, you can join the New Runners Training. Online registration will be open though 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 29.
Water will be available. The park's restrooms are a short walk from Shelter 3.
