The Spring Series is back for 2023!  NOTE:  We're doing the series a few weeks earlier than last year to try to capture some cool weather, so the start time is 6:00 PM to avoid running in the dark.

Race 5K every Tuesday Night for 5 weeks on Verdun's beautiful Cross Country Course.  Races will start shortly after 6:00 PM, every Tuesday from March 14 through April 11. NOTE: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE FINAL RACE WILL BE A RELAY RACE with each runner running a total of 3-5K.
UPDATE 3/14/23 -- Due to the proximity of the Fodderstack 10K, THE FINAL RACE WILL BE A 3K, not a relay race.  We don't want to push deep into the red zone only 4 days before a major race.

NOTE ON WEATHER CANCELLATION:  I'll post an announcement here AND on Facebook ("Warrenton Area Runners" page) by 4:30pm on race day if there will be a cancellation due to weather issues (but the weather will have to be really bad). If we are all at Verdun when bad weather is looming, we will improvise.  

The cost is only $6 per race if you sign up for the full series.  We will get your times, but this is all for fun.  No medals, no t-shirts, just a chance to test yourself and get in a little mid-week speed work.  To make it more fun, we will pick teams on the spot and score it like a XC race.  The sum of your teams top 5 places is your score, and low score wins.  This should take some of us back to our high school and/or college years.  

Format:
We will gather at the Pavilion for instructions, I'll show you guys a couple turns that might be confusing, and then we'll pick teams and start.  We may use a variety of courses, depending on  conditions and/or for the fun of it.  We will start and finish at the Pavilion, and the distances will be approximately 5K (your GPS numbers may vary).  I promise the course will be well marked.

Verdun Adventure Bound is generously allowing us to use their great XC course at no extra charge. They are a non-profit, and all entry fees will go to them. They are being very good to me, and I love them for it!  I have virtually no expenses with this race*.  That's why the cost is so low.
Prices:
$30 to pre-reg for the full series. EARLYBIRD SPECIAL $25!  Only $20 for Kids!
$8 to pre-reg for individual races.
$10 at the venue for individual races.  
Get to know Verdun, here (spawns a new window).  It's a wonderful place for all sorts of activities. Get your company to use the place for an outdoor event. Send a kid to camp. Host a race, even!
*Water will be provided at the finish.  If we have a solid, loyal turnout, I will bring some home-baked goods to the final race.
