Race cancelled due to weather
Dear Grove Trotter Runners,
We are sad to announce that we must cancel this year’s in-person Grove Trotter out of an abundance of caution. The severe weather forecast includes potentially damaging conditions during the event, with concerns about heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning. The safety of our runners, volunteers, and community comes first.
But don’t worry—we’re moving to a fully virtual experience! We hope you’ll join us in keeping the Grove Trotter spirit going while supporting our neighbors through Grove Christian Outreach Center.
Here’s how to participate:
• Complete your registered 5K or 10K distance by Sunday, October 18, choosing a safe time and location.
• Use your pedometer or running app to track your distance and results.
• Share your results and race photos on social media, tag Grove Christian Outreach Center, and include #grovetrotter2026 so we can celebrate with you!
Your swag bag will still be waiting for you! All participants’ bags will be available for pickup at Grove Christian Outreach Center 8800 Pocahontas Trail Williamsburg VA 23185. Please pick yours up by Friday, October 16.
As a reminder, registration fees are nonrefundable in the event of a weather cancellation, as outlined on the race website. Your registration continues to support Grove’s work providing food, resources, and hope to local families, and we are grateful for that support.

Description
Stretch your running legs and support Grove Christian Outreach Center at the 5th annual Grove Trotter 5K/10K. The event will be held Sunday, October 11, 2026 taking off from Chickahominy Riverfront Park. The run will start out going over the Chickahominy River Bridge, out on the Capital Trail and then back in to the park for a full 5K or 10K. The entire run will take place on the well maintained Capital Trail. This is a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix event, and awards will be given for various age groups.
The Grove Trotter 5K/10K Bridge Run is a fundraising event to support Grove Christian Outreach Center. The Outreach Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing food, clothing and financial assistance for impoverished families in the Grove community located in lower James City County. 9:00am 10K Run
9:10am 5K Walk
10:45am Post Race Awards
All participants will receive a finisher's medal and T-shirt to commemorate the event. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each category, listed below.
(Registration must be received by Oct 3rd in order to guarantee T-shirt size.)

Refund Policy: All entry fees and processing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, with no exceptions. Registrations cannot be deferred to a later race. Bib numbers are not transferrable. There will be no refunds in the event of postponements or cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Race Course
The Grove Trotter 10K Bridge Run will start at Chickahominy Riverfront Park, heading over the Chickahominy River Bridge, out 5K on the Capital Trail and then turn back to the park for a full 10K.
