Description
The U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix will again be home to a major triathlon, on December 8, 2019. This will mark the 31st year our beautiful island has hosted athletes from around the world, making this course one of the longest-running triathlons on record. Home to previous races such as “America’s Paradise Triathlon” and “IRONMAN 70.3® St. Croix”, St. Croix's race is a must-do event for triathletes worldwide. A gorgeous swim in Christiansted harbor transitions to a scenic yet challenging ride that takes athletes up the world-famous 15% average grade climb known as “The Beast”. The run goes east from Christiansted, through the glorious grounds of The Buccaneer Beach and Golf Resort. Athletes are cheered on by residents, volunteers and entertainers across the island, and festivities occur throughout the day and night in Christiansted.
Three races will be offered: Long Distance Course, Sprint and a Sprint Aquathlon. Relays are offered in the Long Distance Course and Sprint Triathlon races. In addition, the Long Distance Course race is designated as the Caribbean Long Distance Triathlon Championship.
