Details

Volunteers will utilize "Race Day Check In" app to check participants in to their events. Participants will be issued their timing chip, the appropriate swim cap for their event, a race number, and advised what wave they are swimming in.

Scripps Park on the grass just South of the bathrooms.

Sharpie Team

Details

Swimmers will have their race number written on their arms (hand or shoulder)/legs (Calf) to help race staff identity competitors for timing and in the event of an emergency.

Beach Team

Timing Chip Station High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteer will remove timing chips from swimmers after they cross the finish line.

Distributing finisher medals for each participant who has finished their event in the allotted time.

Wind & Sea Safety Paddler High Priority

Safety paddlers for the 3 mile swim event and kids swim. Mark Feighan is the coordinator this group.

Starter High Priority

Details

Starts each wave of swimmers for all the events.

Details

Will handle swimmers who are unable to finish race. Will ensure that they are given assistance as needed including medical evaluation by lifeguards and also informing Timing (Stack Sports) of the DNF.

Awards

Emcee High Priority

Details

"Voice of La Jolla" will call the race participants to the starting area. Commentary and directions for swimmers. Announce winners for Age Group awards.

Landing on the East staircase

Age Group Awards High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will work with Race Wire (timing vendor) and the Emcee - Ron Jones to distribute age group medals to the top three finishers (male & female) in regulation division for each event. There are no awards for wetsuit division. Volunteers may distribute medals to winners once Race Wire has made results official for each event. Volunteers will keep track of medals that have been accepted. Emcee will only announce overall winners in each event and age group awardees who are present.

T-Shirts

T-shirt distribution High Priority

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will issue event t-shirts to participants. Some participants purchased additional shirts. The volunteer will use Race Day Check In app to verify quantity and size of t-shirts for each participant. No sales or exchanges are allowed. Participant must take the size of shirt they input when they registered for the event.

Bag Check

Details

Swimmers may leave their bag identified by their bib number. while they are swimming. Volunteer(s) will accept the bag and keep it secure while the swimmer is participating in their race.

North of the bathrooms, near the East stairs access to the Cove.

Water Station High Priority

Details

Water Station with coolers for Swimmers only. Volunteers will keep coolers filled with provided water. Keep trash collected.
