Details

Part of having a race is just getting set up! We will need about 4 people who don't have any lifting restrictions to assist with equipment which will be delivered on the BRC trailer. Items such as safety cones tables, canopies, water coolers, etc will need to be set up. The club trailer will arrive at 3:30pm to begin setup. This group of individuals is generally the first to arrive and will begin unloading the trailer. The course director will give instruction as to which equipment and materials needs to be used and where. Volunteers should plan on arriving no later than 4:30pm unless otherwise instructed by the course director.

Please arrive no later than 5pm. This individual will assist at the finish line with handing out water bottles to finishers. Should expect to be present for the duration of the race.

Lead Bike

Details

An adult over the age of 18 who can guide the runners out on the course and back. The lead bike will ensure the course remains clear for the lead runners and no interference is present. This individual will need to provide their own bike. Lead Bike will need to arrive no later than 4:30pm.

We need individuals to assist with picking up food for hospitality from our sponsors and delivering it to the race on time. This includes water and Gatorade. Food will need to be delivered between 4pm - 5pm.

This is a great way you can help on race day and still participate in the race!

Race Day Registration Table High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Race Day registration is separate from pre-stuffed packets. We typically get about 50 race day registrations. Duties will include assisting runners with registration forms, assigning and documenting bibs, shirt distribution and collecting payment. Volunteers will need to arrive no later than 4:00. Registration opens at 4pm. Some setup will be required. Organization and communication skills are key. You will also want to familiarize yourself with the course, as you can anticipate questions about the course and events. This booth works best with 2 people assisting with registration and payment, and 1 or 2 people assisting with shirt selection.


This is a good opportunity if you want to both volunteer and run. If you are able to volunteer in multiple areas, another great option would be awards or hospitality since your duties ends with registration at race start.

Race Day Packet Pickup Table High Priority

Details

On race day, preregistered runners will be able to pick up their packet with relative ease. A list of runners will be provided. Bags will be pre-stuffed and labeled with participant name and bib #. No more than 4 people are needed. There should be organized lines, segregated into 3-4 lines by last name. This is a relatively simple but quick moving process. Volunteers will need to arrive no later than 4:00. Registration opens at 4pm. Some setup will be required. Organization and communication skills are key. You will also want to familiarize yourself with the course, as you can anticipate questions about the course and events. You will not be expected to handle cash. Any shirt sizing issues will need to be handled at the Race Day registration table.

This is a good opportunity if you want to both volunteer and run. If you are able to volunteer in multiple areas, another great option would be awards or hospitality since your duties ends with registration at race start.

Results/Awards Table

Details

The awards table is very easy for this race. There is no award ceremony. As runners finish, results will be provided very quickly. Once finishing places are set, finishers may pick up their awards from the booth. We need 4 volunteers for this function. One person to handle the overall and masters divisions. One person for the female and one person for the male division. One additional person will be needed as a "runner" to shuttle the results from the timing services trailer to the results table.

After the start of the race, the timing services will provide a selection of random bib numbers. Those numbers will be used to provide door prizes. Runners will need to check the board and may retrieve their award. Must be present to win.

Photography

Details

As part of the racing experience we like to provide runners with pictures of themselves on race day. We are looking for 2-3 aspiring photographers (students this one is for you!) to take photos at different points during the event. Ideally we would like pictures for prerace, at start, at the turnaround, at the finish line and for post race.
