MVV

Details

An MVV is our "Most Versatile Volunteer". ALL our volunteers are critical to the success of the Monty Boyd Challenge. "A race without volunteers is a training run." The MVV is capable and willing to take on any task. Race day can be "eventful" behind the scenes and it is a blessing to have those handful of people that are willing to be flexible and embrace challenges. This task is all encompassing and could include any of the other listed tasks as well as unlisted tasks.

Course Control

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Course control assists race participants, public safety officers and the general public with how to safely and efficiently navigate on, around, or through our race course. Course control is mandated by the City of Mount Dora and its Public Safety Office, as such, it is one of our most critical volunteer roles. If you are, or will be, 18 years of age before April 23, 2016, please consider assisting us in one of our most critical roles. This task requires standing for up to 1.5 hours. No restroom facilities will be available during your shift. This position requires primarily standing.

Location

Course control assignments are located at various points along the 5k race route. We provide bus transportation to and from each assignment post along the race course from our base of operations at MDCA. (MDCA Brackett Gymnasium)

Parking

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Parking volunteers assist arriving vehicles proceed to designated parking locations. Controlling the flow of traffic at our event's entry point during race morning provides for a safer environment for all participants and reduces the "anxiety" for arriving participants and guests of navigating the MDCA campus. Restroom facilities are available for this station. This position requires primarily standing.

Location

Assignments for Parking Volunteers are located at the entrances to the MDCA campus and in the parking lot surrounding the Bracket Gymnasium. Volunteers will be able to walk to their assignments from our base of operations. (MDCA Brackett Gymnasium)

Packet Pickup & Registration

Details

Packet pickup & registration volunteers facilitate the distribution of race packets to race participants. Along with packet pickup duties, volunteers register walk up registrations for both the 5K & Kids' Race. This task requires mostly sitting with some standing. Restroom facilities are available during task.

Location

Packet pickup & registration occurs primarily in the lobby of the MDCA Bracket Gymnasium. A short period of packet pickup & registration will be held prior to the Kids' Race at the concession facility located in the MDCA track facility.

Water Stop (On course)

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers at the on course water stop prepare and setup the stop prior to the race. As well as setup the primary function of water stop volunteers is to have fluids available and distribute the fluids to participants that desire hydration. All materials and equipment for this assignment will be at your station when you arrive. Setup and prep is required. There is no access to restroom facilities at this station. Transportation to and from the location is provided from our base of operations at the MDCA Brackett Gymnasium.

Location

The water stop is located at approximately the 1.5 mile mark of the 5K (3.1 miles) race.

Finish Line Awards & Medals

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers at the finish line will present to participants completing the race their medal as well as present to overall and age group winners their awards during the awards presentation ceremony. (Following immediately after the 5K race) Restroom facilities will be available to volunteers at this station. This task requires primarily standing.

Location

The finish line for the 5K race is located at the MDCA track facility.

Water/Food (Finish line)

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers at this station will "stock" tables with water and food for participants that have completed the race. All materials and equipment for this assignment will be at your station when you arrive. Setup and prep is required. Restrooms will be available for volunteers at this station.

Location

The finish line for the 5K race is located at the MDCA track facility.

Kids' Mud Run

Finish Line Dog Tags

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will present to kids finishing the Mud Run their "Dog Tags". Restroom facilities will be available to volunteers at this station. This station requires primarily standing.

Location

The finish line for the Kids' Mud Run is located at the MDCA track facility.

Course Directors

At least 12 more volunteers needed.

Details

Course Directors for the Kids' Run will direct participants around the course and help ensure safe conditions at each of the course obstacles. Restroom facilities will be available for this task's volunteers. This task requires primarily standing.

Location

The Kids' Mud run will be held on and immediately around the MDCA track facility.
