Martins Fork/D Boone Hut Course Marshal High Priority

This is a dual role. You'll start out the morning at the D. Boone Hut trailhead on Tunnel Ridge Road. Your job there will be to ensure that 50K runners continue on Tunnel Ridge Road toward Auxier Ridge and DO NOT go down D Boone Hut trail.

Once all 50K runners have passed you going out toward Auxier Ridge you will then hike down D. Boone Hut trail to where DBH Trail meets Rough Trail. There you will stand and help direct traffic as runners descend the hill coming down DBH Trail. They will stay straight to go out to the aid station at Martins Fork, turn around, and come back to you. When they come back to you they are to stay left and continue on Rough Trail.

Course Marking

Assist with course marking on Thursday before the race.

Ability to run or hike 10 miles with a heavy pack is required.

Must be familiar with the race route and the trails in and around the Red River Gorge. Be able to navigate the route without assistance.

Course Sweepers

50K Course Sweepers High Priority

FOR RUNNERS/HIKERS ONLY.

You must be able to run or fast hike 31 miles in under 10 hours.

Your job will be two-fold:
1) Ensure all runners progress through the course on time and safely. You are the "caboose". No runner ever gets behind you. When you reach an aid station, we know all runners are accounted for and the course is clear.

2) Remove 50K course markings as you move along so that we can leave no trace in the forest. You can leave the flags and ribbons at the aid stations.
