Details

Run/walk at the back of the Half Marathon. You will make sure to get the "back of the pack" moving to finish the race on time (cut off time is 11:30).

Lead Bike 5K High Priority

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

You will lead the 5K front runner around the course to the finish line.
A parent and student age 14 and up can do this together. Or 2 adults 18 and over.

Lead Biker for 10K High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

You will lead the 10K front runner around the course to the finish line.
A parent and student age 14 and up can do this together. Or 2 adults 18 and over.

Lead Biker for Half Marathon High Priority

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

You will lead the Half front runner around the course to the finish line.
A parent and student age 14 and up can do this together. Or 2 adults 18 and over. (2 are needed for front male lead and 2 for front female lead.)

What To Expect: Runners in the 5K will pass you around 7am. Runners in the Half Marathon will pass you around 7:45am. You will see runners for only 5-10 minutes or so each time.
What To Do: Runners are coming out of the park and onto Nutt St. You're cheering them on as they run straight onto Nutt St. at the start of the race. Be sure no traffic is crossing on Harnett St. while participants are on the road.

What To Do Next: After the last runner passes you in the Half Marathon, your second position is at : "Water & Princess - off sidewalk onto Water St." -runners are coming off of the sidewalk here and onto the road. Caution them to be careful of the sidewalk step and cheer them to continue straight on Water St. toward the finish line.

What To Do: Runners are coming down Nutt St. from the park and turning up Market St. It's important that they turn up Market St in the correct lane (shown in the diagram). You're cheering them on as they turn onto Market St. at the start of the race. Be sure no traffic is crossing or coming off of Market St. while participants are on the road.

What To Do: Runners are coming up Market St. from the river toward you and will continue up Market. Traffic should be stopped with an officer here and you just need to cheer on runners directing them to run up Front St. When they return, you will want to direct them into the coned Southbound lane of N. Front St. (See diagram). There should be no cars in this lane and the officer should stop traffic for runners.
What To Do Next: Your next position is S. Front & Church St. It's .4 miles away - 10 min walk so I would not drive there. See separate instructions for this.

What To Expect: You're right around Mile 1. Runners in the 5K will pass you just after 7:05am. Runners in the Half Marathon will pass you around 7:50am. You will see runners for only 15-20 minutes or so each time.
What To Do: Runners will be coming toward you from Front St. on Market St. Cheer them on and keep them going straight in their coned lane up Market St. They should be on the inside lane near the median and Half runners will be turning AROUND the planted median between 2nd and 3rd and back down Market Street toward the waterfront. 5K runners keep straight up to 5th.
What To Do Next: Your next position is S. Front St. & Nun St. It's .4 miles away - 9 min walk so I would not drive there. See separate instructions for this.
