COURSE VOLUNTEERS

Swim Start

Details

Volunteers will assist with swimmers at the Swim Start: Collect gear bags and load into the truck. Unload the gear bag truck at WB Park and organize the bags.

Location

Check in at WB Park and walk to Blockade Runner Beach Resort. Ride the Gear Bag truck back to WB Park.

Swim Finish

September 27, 2025

Details

You will assist swimmers exiting the water at Seapath Marina dock and direct them back to Transition Area at WB Park.

Location

Check in at Volunteer Tent at WB Park then walk to Seapath Marina.

Bike Course

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteers will be on the Bike Course directing cyclists in the correct direction. A Race Crew member will bring safety vests to you and pick them up from. You cannot leave spot until released by a Race Crew member.

Location

Volunteers drive directly to their assigned locations and text Volunteer Coordinator when in place. Locations are along WB drawbridge, Airlie Rd, Oleander Dr, Greenville Loop Rd, Pine Grove Rd, and Wrightsville Ave, and Eastwood Road. Volunteers will pick up their t-shirts at WB Park on Friday, Sept 20th.

Run Course

September 27, 2025

Details

Volunteers will be directing runners on the Run Course.

Location

Check in at WB Park and walk or drive to assigned location on the Wrightsville Beach Loop.

Swim Assistance

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

We need 15-20 people on paddle boards or in kayaks to monitor the Swim Course.

Location

Report to the Blockade Runner Beach Resort (sound side) on your SUP or kayak. Kristen Smith will provide instruction and assign you a spot.

Boat Volunteers

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

We need 3 boats to help monitor the course and set up buoys with Kristen Smith (swim course coordinator).

Lifeguards

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This is a paid position for lifeguards for the swim portion of the race. Volunteers need a lifeguard certificate.

Location

Blockade Runner Resort to Seapath Marina in the water. Lifeguards will meet Kristen Smith at Blockade Runner and get directions from her.

AID STATIONS

Aid Station Run #1

Details

Volunteers will be sure fluids are placed on the table for athletes to grab and then clean up trash on the ground around the aid station.

Location

Check in at WB Park and walk or drive to the west corner of Salisbury Street and S. Lumina Ave (Bryant Realty side).

Aid Station Run #2

Details

Volunteers will be sure fluids are placed on the table for athletes to grab and then clean up trash on the ground around the Aid Station.

Location

Volunteers check in at WB Park and walk to Aid Station at Intracoastal Realty Office on Causeway Dr.

RACE PRODUCTION VOLUNTEERS

Details

Volunteers will be distributing bib numbers, t-shirts, and any extra items to athletes.

Location

Thursday, Sept 19th is at Two Wheeler Dealer on Wrightsville Ave.
Friday, Sept 20th and Saturday, Sept 21st is at WB Park at the Gazebo back by the playground.

Transition Area Volunteers

September 27, 2025

Details

Volunteers will monitor entrances and exits at the Transition Area on race day and direct athletes to correct one.

Post Race Refreshments

September 27, 2025

Details

Volunteers will set up the Refreshment Tent prior to the race, keep the refreshment tables and water pools replenished for athletes, and break down boxes.

Finish Line

September 27, 2025

Details

Volunteers will assist athletes in the Finish Line chute: pass out medals, collect chip and chip bands from athletes, and/or record times.

Clean Up

Details

Volunteers will clean up the grounds in the Post-Race Area and in the Transition Area and will assist with the tear down of the Finish Line and bike racks in Transition.

Volunteers will assist athletes with checking their bikes in at the Transition Area.

Timing Chip Pickup

Details

Volunteers will be handing out timing chips to athletes on race morning.

Volunteers will be assisting cyclists in the mount and dismount zones out side of Transition and along Causeway Dr

Details

Volunteers will assist the Set-Up Race Crew in assembling bike racks in the Transition Area.
