Healthy Kids Running Series Spring 2023 - Marlton, NJ

Sun April 16 - Sun May 21 Marlton, NJ 08053 US Directions

Group Leaders High Priority

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

These volunteers are responsible for the boys and girls in each of the five (5) age groups after the welcoming and opening announcement. Once the opening announcements are over the Community Coordinator will deploy the participants into groups based on grade level and the Volunteer Group Leader will lead them in stretching. While stretching and warming up, the Volunteer Group Leader should give positive reinforcement and encouragement. This will be the first race for many of the participants!

Note: Stretching should be no less than 5 minutes and no more than 10 minutes. We have a guide that you can reference for the simple stretches. No prior experience is necessary.

Starter High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

This person is at the start of each race and blows the air horn acknowledging the start of that race. The Starter must coordinate the starting of the race with the Time Keeper and Results Keeper so everyone is in the right place and accurate time is kept. In addition, the starter should make sure all kids have their shoes tied and their names (last name, first initial) on the tear-off portion of the race bib. They should also remind the kids of our Code of Conduct, confirm they know where the course goes and where to turn before blowing the starting horn.

Finish Line Chute Coordination High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

These volunteers will help guide the runners through the finish line and ensure that they are lined up in finishing order. The Community Coordinator will be collecting the tear off portion of the bibs as they come in, so these volunteers will help the kids line up and wait for their turn before exiting the chute.

Registration Table

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Responsibilities include accepting registration and payment, keeping order, answering questions, assist in filling out registration forms, handing out race bibs to new registrants and informing parents that their child’s race bib needs to be completely filled out.

Course Set Up

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

These volunteers will set up the finish line chute and on course markings.

Course Clean Up

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

These volunteers will help break down the finish line chute and clean up the course markings.

Photographer Low Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

This volunteer will help capture all of the exciting moments during the race! You do not need to be a professional, but please be prepared to share the photos with the Community Coordinator afterwards, so that they can be added to the FB group.

Timer Help

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

One person is the recorder writing down times on their clip board results template, the times of each runner as they cross the finish line. They only need to write the time that the timer reads off. The other Volunteer Results Keeper is holding the stop watch reading out the times. They are responsible for starting the stop watch when the horn blows at the beginning of the race and reading times aloud to the Volunteer Recorder as each racer crosses the finish line.

The Volunteer Recorder does not need to record the race bib number or name, etc. All races are timed except the 50 Yard Dash/75 Yard Dash. Ensure to have extra volunteers in the finish line chute to keep the runners in line after they cross the finish line. Later when the Series is over, the recorded times on the time sheet will then be matched up with the tear-offs on the ring so each runner has an associated time for their entered race.

Note: The results keepers should help in the chute for the 50 and 75 yard dash since these races are not timed.
