HIGH PRIORITY VOLUNTEER NEEDS

Traffic Marshal High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

November 10, 2024

Details

Traffic marshals play an important role for ensuring the safety of participants by staffing low activity intersections. These volunteers are stationed along the course and have the opportunity to see and cheer on runners

This position comes with a mandatory zoom training session. This training will cover general race safety as well as specifics about your spot on the course. It should take about 45 minutes and you can attend one of two training dates that will be announced in October. Training is usually offered Saturday morning, the weekend prior to the race and Wednesday evening, the week prior to the race.

You will be asked to be in position by 6:30 AM to check in with our volunteer coordinator. Once we know all marshals are in place, we can safely start the race. You will be free to go when the sweep police car that follows the last runner goes by you. Participants are required to run a 14 minute mile so your departure time will depend on where you are on the course. For example, marshals at and before mile two would be one by 7:30 AM, marshals at mile 10 would be done by 9:20, marshals at mile 13 would be done at 10 AM.

** Qualified volunteers who are under 18 years of age can send an email to courtney@princetonhalfmarathon.com for consideration.
