Transition Area Monitors

Details

Transition Area Monitors will assist participants with the set-up of their bikes and "transition" area. They will assist participants in finding the Swim In/ Bike Out/Bike In and Run Out locations. They will also assist with keeping ALL non-participants out of the area and also assist with maintaining the safety of the area.

Swim-In Water Assistance

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteers should be experienced swimmers. You will be in the water helping to monitor the participants along the course and/or direct participants in/out of the water. The water will be shallow enough for you to stand. Swim booties or swim shoes are highly recommended.

*Please note: There will be a lot of support as well from the Town of Oyster Bay Lifeguards in the water.

Biker to Maintain Safety

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

You will ride along the Bike Course to maintain the safety of the participants. The Lead Bike Captain will give you your full instructions on race morning. Bike Volunteer experience preferred.

You will be assigned to a spot along the Bike Course. You might be directing a participant to turn or stay straight.... or you will be in a spot that will just assist with the safety of the participant and the course.
Your Area Captain will give you final instructions the morning of the event.

Water Stop

Details

You will volunteer at either the Start Water, Run Course Water or Finish Line Water Station. You will be responsible for pouring water into cups, handing out the water to participants, replenishing empty cups as needed and cleaning up the area once finished.
You will be provided with a table, water, cups, latex gloves, garbage bags and receptacles.

Finish Line-Select Timing

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

*Prior Experience Preferred
You will receive direction from the race timer on race morning as to how to record each participants bib# and time as they come through the finish line. Select Timing is used to maintain the integrity of the race results.

Refreshments

You must be 13 or older to volunteer for this task.

You will report to Myron Bellovin, our Refreshment Area Captain. He will give you your exact assignment on race day.
You might be assigned to either:
*distributing soda/fruit/mini bagels or ice cream to participants

Thanks for wanting to volunteer for the Runner's Edge TOBAY Junior Triathlon! Online sign-up is now closed... but we do need you! Please arrive by 8:15am and head to volunteer check-in with Lisa Meinardis at the Gazebo. You will be assigned to wherever we can best utilize you! Thanks for being flexible!
Please report to Lisa Meinardis at volunteer check-in, located at the GAZEBO, by 8am. The event takes place at Theodore Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay. You can park in the LIRR parking lot on Audrey Ave.
