Reception Setup

Help band unload &/or reload equipment; Help game supplier unload and set up equipment (bounce house, dunk tank, children's games, etc.); Set up reception tables; cover with plastic; help arrange medals table; help set up food table

Registration Setup

Help set up the registration table area, put out signs, "schlepping stuff around," etc.; Place signs (e.g. "Restrooms, this way") in various locations on campus; adhere signs to Registration tent;

RACE VOLUNTEER TASKS (8:30 - 10:00 am)

Trail Guide

Details

Assigned with one other volunteer at a designated route turn location on the trail. Use hand flags to point runners and walkers in the right direction. Cheer on runners and walkers!

Hand out water at 1/4 way point

Set up water table/cups and hand out water at the quarter way point of the trail at the NE corner of Maplewood Park (2 people needed)

First Aid attendant

Serve as a first aid attendant (positioned at the finish line) - nurse or medic volunteer preferred

Trail "sweeper" volunteer

Details

Race/walk marshal - acting as "Sweeper" behind final walker to make sure all walkers return to the RSD campus safely and to notify trail marshals when they can return to campus (after the last walker or runner has passed their station)

Finish line volunteer

Help at Finish Line - hold the ribbon and/or call out bib numbers and/or collect bib tabs

Race Timing volunteer

Help at Finish Line - Assist with accurate recording of runners' times; determining medal winners, arranging the medal table, posting results and assisting with awarding medals to winners

Trail Volunteer Coordinator

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Make sure all trail volunteers have received their assignments, are in their places prior to the start of the race, have whatever equipment/supplies they need, replenish their empty water coolers, shift extra volunteers to vacant trail volunteer posts (if a volunteer doesn't show up or gets sick), etc.

POST-RACE RECEPTION VOLUNTEER TASKS (9:15 - 11 am)

Facilitate children's games

Facilitate one of the children's games/hand out prizes during the reception; hand out prizes

Wear the RSD Wildcat Mascot Outfit for photo opps

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Wear the head-to-toe RSD wildcat costume and interact with participants and guests during the event, posing for red carpet photos with them, cheering them on at the finish line, etc. Note: If it's hot that morning, we have a cooling vest you can wear so that you don't overheat.

ASL interpreter: live music

Details

Provide ASL interpretation of some or all of the band's music (rock band "Free Agent" will play on and off from 9:00 - 10:10 and also from 10:30-11:30). Song list will be provided ahead of time. Interpreting needed 9:30 - 10:10 and 10:30 - 11:15).
