Bike Route Monitors

Group 'A' Bike Route Monitors - 4 hour Max shift

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Times vary depending upon location with most location assignments lasting 2 to 4 hours. Positions assignment times range from between 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some locations requiring monitors longer may be broken into two shifts. Volunteers are welcomed to take a double shift at these locations.
Monitors will be stationed in pairs (or more) at designated locations along the route where it is determined that assistance is needed for cyclists. Monitors may need to provide directions to cyclists or assist cyclists in proceeding through a particular intersection, across a street or at cattle guard locations. Monitors will ONLY help direct cyclists but NOT vehicular traffic. Must have own transportation to/from designated route location. It MAY be possible to car pool with other marshals to location. Must be 18 or older. Cheerful, motivating, encouraging attitude to pass along to riders is a helpful attribute.

Location

Numerous monitor points along the various routes will be preassigned by Event Monitor Coordinators.

Group 'B' Bike Route Monitors 5 - 7 hour shift

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

This team helps with the ride area set up at Boerne High School. Another team will help with set-up and tear down of the late registration and packet pickup area at the Boerne HEB (location for late registration and packet pickup)

Start/Finish Line Operations

Details

Will assist in the Start and Finish Line Area, helping stage riders for starting/route waves, then helping direct finishing riders to Bike Parking, helping distributing snacks/water and food in the post-event area/s. Help providing general direction to all cyclists in the Start and Finish Line area at Boerne High School and other area needs. Two shifts (AM & PM)

Bike Route Sweep & SAG Support

You must be 25 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 11 more volunteers needed.

Details

These teams circulate along the routes in vans, offering transportation to cyclists needing assistance to Rest Stops. Route/s are broken into designated ‘zones’ to help identify route locations and van placement rotations for rider support. Must be 25 or older with valid drivers' license and insurance, and able to load bicycles into a van.

Route Signage Placement/Pickup Teams

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

These several teams will help place signage along routes to insure riders stay on course along with traffic warning signs to help slow and warn motorists about riders on road. The Sunday signage teams will be broken into AM (sign setup and some sign pickup) and PM (sign pickup) teams. Must be 18 or older.

Event Breakdown & Cleanup

You must be 15 or older to volunteer for this task.

This team will manage the breakdown & cleanup of the Start/Finish Line site, including breakdown of tables/chairs, event related equipment, trash collection and staging area signage collection. Must be at least 15 years old.

Route Clean-Up

You must be 25 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This team is responsible for helping pickup & transport bagged trash from Rest Stops, and pickup/transport of loose trash along the route/s. Must be 25 or older with valid drivers' license and insurance, and able to lift at least 30 lbs.
