Traffic Control/Cheering Leader
-Runner Safety: The most important job of every course volunteer is to protect the safety of the runners. You may be directing the runners to turn or warning runners of something happening on the route.
-Traffic control: As much as we want the racers to have a safe roadway, we also know there are heavier, faster and bigger things to deal with on the course in the name of cars. Course volunteers need to know how to react to the situation, usually this involves stopping briefly or having the cars move slowly. We want all runners and volunteers to be safe.
-Public relations: While standing on the course, you are a race ambassador. People may ask what is happening, how they can help, etc. Thank them for the support and try to answer their question. If you don't know the answer, let them know they can contact the Y to get any answers.
-Use your voice: Use pom-poms, mega phones, or whatever you have! You are the cheerleader!
-Clean up: Stack up cones and items in your area to be ready for pick up.
