Transition area volunteers help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient environment for athletes during the race.
Responsibilities may include monitoring athlete flow in and out of transition, assisting with directing participants, maintaining safety around bike racks and equipment areas, answering basic athlete questions, and helping ensure event rules and procedures are followed within the transition zone. Volunteers may also assist with light setup tasks and general organization within the transition area.
This role is relatively easy but does require extended periods of standing and walking outdoors in varying weather conditions. Volunteers should be dependable, attentive, and comfortable communicating clearly with athletes, spectators, and race staff in a busy race environment. The ability to stay alert, follow directions, and help maintain athlete safety and organization throughout the event is important for this role.
