Description
Fat ass, fun run, social? Just don't call it a race. A few years ago we dreamed up gathering of a few friends to run from sea level (Skyline Beach) to the highest point (Mt. Erie) on Fidalgo Island. A route was created and "Beach to Peak 25k" was born? We held a low key gathering last year (2021) and now it's time to open up and share it with others - because, why not?
Beach to Peak 25k is a self-supported run. Hydration and nutrition is the participant's responsibility. Additionally, course markings are limited due to Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL) use guidelines. Trail junctions will be marked with directional arrows, printed copies of the course map will be available, and the Strava route is publicly viewable.
From the start at the Cabana participants will traverse quiet neighborhoods and forested trails to complete an out and back ascent of Mt. Erie. The first and final two miles are fast pavement, the middle eleven miles are luscious forested trails.
We've reserved access to one of the most beautiful spots/parks on Fidalgo Island to picnic and socialize during and after the run. Last year the weather was phenomenal, but VERY HOT! give that June 5th weather forecast a glance to avoid surprises. There will be a water drop at the Heart Lake Trail kiosk, but its self serve and unstaffed. Leashed dogs are welcome, but are not permitted inside the Cabana.
Post run banquet is a potluck, BYOB and participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share. There is access to a Full kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer. Mt. Erie Runners will provide cups, plates, cutlery and non-alcohol beverages (Water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and Sparkling Water).
