Hello! My name is Amelie Loomis. I am 14 years old and I have created this virtual 5k Run/Walk to celebrate and commemorate my grandmother. This race is a virtual 5k, which gives you the flexibility to complete it wherever and whenever you would like on race weekend: May 29-31, 2021. You may walk or run the distance, whichever works best for you. ALL PROFITS from this race will go to the charity, Cure PSP, to give hope to those with neurodegenerative diseases. My grandmother, Barbara Ann Easterly “Bebe” died in 2017 of a rare neurological disorder called Corticobasal Degeneration, that has no known cure. The disease degenerates the brain affecting mobility, speech, and ability to do complex movements. The two things that come to mind when I remember her are her selflessness and her love. I remember her always taking the time to play card games and spend time with me when I was little, putting relationships first. Also after she started losing her speech, she could only say a couple of words a day and the words I always remember her choosing to say to me were, “I love you!” She inspired me to be intentional about showing my love to others around me especially since I have the ability. If you would like more information about cure PSP you can go to their website here: https://www.psp.org/
