Description

RANGER 100 Mile Challenge this year is a partial fund raiser for the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC)

The RANGER100 Mile Challenge is limited to 300 participants.  Registration will close once the 300th participant signs up.

Your Challenge at Your Pace
You decide, ride a few miles every day or maybe divided the mileage into three days per week or a few short rides during the week followed by a few extra miles of adventure on the weekend.  You set your pace, the days, the miles and if you aim for 25 per week you will be finding yourself at 100 miles by the end of the month!  Or you can add up the miles over several weeks!  You decide what is right for you and your horse to create those 100 miles of memories with together.

CAN I TRACK RESULTS ONLINE?
You can track your mileage on this website under the "RESULTS" tab of your challenge.  This step is completely optional, you may also use a notebook and email me a photo of your miles. warhorse.endurance@gmail.com

Again, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE the results tab.  You can track all of your miles with pen and paper at home.

ARE THERE PLACINGS?
Although this is categorized on this sign up page as a virtual race, the only winners are you & your horse spending time together gaining experience, fitness, friendship and miles.  This is a challenge, not a race.

HOW DO I TRACK THE MILES?

We are trusting you to track your personal mileage, the WARHORSE Endurance Challenges, including the RANGER 100 Mile Challenge are all based on the honor system.  If you say you have done the mileage, we believe you.

WHAT DO I RECEIVE FOR COMPLETION?

You will receive a beautiful, custom made for this event, medal and also an embroidered patch to commemorate your journey of 100 miles.  Many riders are putting the patch on a jacket, saddle pad or on their pommel bags.

WHAT MILES COUNT?

We are happy to say that this motivational challenge is open to riders, carriage drivers, those walking with their horses!  And it is also open to hikers, runners and cyclists! We even have had someone roller blading the 100 miles, and also rowing.  Yes, in a boat.

CAN I USE MORE THAN ONE HORSE?

The answer is YES!  Though you only get the one medal and one patch per sign up!  We are creating this Challenge to encourage each other and set goals!  What you need to ask yourself is, what do you want the medal to signify to you? Some riders have signed up more than one horse per challenge because they wanted each horse to earn their own medal. If you would like the medal to symbolize all of your miles with one horse, then you count just the miles with one horse.  If you would like the medal to symbolize riding miles, no matter how many horses, then you count all your riding miles.  If you would like this medal to symbolize to you all your hiking/riding/running miles, then you count those!

CAN I COMBINE MY PERSONAL RUNNING MILES WITH RIDING MILES TO REACH 100 MILE GOAL FASTER?

Again, what you need to ask yourself is, what do you want the medal to signify to you? If you would like the medal to symbolize all of your miles with one horse, then you count just the miles with one horse.  Would you like it to symbolize how many active miles you had?

ARE THE MILES RETROACTIVE?

No, they are not.  The nature of a challenge is for what you are going to do once you accept it, not what you did two months ago.  So your miles start tracking on the day you sign up.

DOES ARENA RIDING COUNT?

Yes, if you are riding in a large arena.

WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

Well, to my business!  And to help create more challenges in the future! Though I have long believed in the "Pay it Forward" theory in life and often add a cause or a charity to an event.

IS THERE A CAUSE/CHARITY FOR RANGER?

Yes there is!  And a new one planned for next year too! This year, we have chosen for $5.00 from each entry will be given to the AERC.  The AERC is the main Endurance promoting organization in the USA, and due to shut downs this year has suffered loses.   We want to see the sport of endurance survive this crisis, and to support this organization. The RANGER will be offered again, though will benefit will be the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary.

PATCH & MEDAL DESIGN

When I named this challenge RANGER, I had a different medal in mind, and will run with that design next year.  Though for this year I decided to keep with the theme with the other challenges we offered so the series.  Next year all the medals will all be different.

WHAT IS THE MEANING BEHIND THE RANGER 100 Mile Challenge?

The medal I had in mind was a baroque looking horse with wind swept mane, and had even started working on the medal design, and the name RANGER just stuck with me, and I honestly did not know where it had came from, though knew I should stick with it, it was a very old west name, and we all love to be in the open range on our horses, so it stuck.   THEN I came across the story of a young mustang stallion named RANGER who had lost his life, and saw the beautiful images that a photographer had made documenting his life.  That was when the meaning behind the name RANGER took root for me- the mustang, and that we would going forward attach a mustang benefiting cause to this event.  I look forward to next year when the mustangs will benefit from RANGER, though am hoping you will join us in the inaugural year of RANGER, as it benefits the AERC.  Aside from Arabian and Arabian cross horses, the mustang is the next most popular category of horse that competes in endurance events.

Earn a beautiful commemorative medal and embroidered RANGER patch to go along with your 100 miles!

We have created a lovely medal and also an embroidered patch to commemorate the miles you have journeyed  together with your horse.   No hour of time is wasted that is spent in the saddle!

WHAT IF I AM NOT IN THE USA?  CAN I STILL I AND GET THE MEDAL?

The cost of this challenge includes shipping to USA.
The shipping of a medal internationally is higher, and it was because of international interest that the embroidered patch was designed.  For international participants we mail an embroidered patch of the same size and design of the medal, and also a large 5 inch sticker of the same design.

IF OUTSIDE OF THE USA, CAN I STILL I AND GET THE MEDAL?

Yes, though I will need to send you a PayPal invoice for the shipping internationally.  What would that cost?  We have to get your address first, and then ask the post office, as we need to fill out a customs form, etc.  For examples, we have had I have had it cost as little as $10.00 to some places in Canada and as much as $17.00 in parts of Australia.
