Which race will the group be training for in the summer of 2020?

- This is a 5k training group.  For our current season, weʼre targeting the Blazin' 5K on August 1. 

What if Iʼm preparing for a race other than the groupʼs primary goal event?

- Youʼre welcome to use the CRC training plan for any race of your choosing. Just remember that your Walk & Run 101 registration does include automatic entry into the Blazin' 5K.

How do the group trainings work?

- In a typical year, our group would meet together at 8 am each Saturday from the Dublin location of the Columbus Running Company. Because of these uncertain times, we have taken this program virtual, therefore, we will not meet as a group to physically run or walk together, but I would encourage everyone to schedule a time to run or walk each weekend so that you keep to a schedule. 

I'm nervous about using technology.  What do you recommend?

- Honestly, Coach Lisa here, I am not the best at technology, but I have figured out how to use Zoom, FaceTime, GoogleDuo, and Strava. Truly, if I can do it, anyone can. I have been holding Zoom clinics for the last month and feel that we will be able to walk through the steps on using it, Strava, or whatever platform you are comfortable with together and make it a lot of fun.

Iʼve struggled with motivation in the past. What does CRC offer to help keep me going especially since we can't physically meet as a group?

- First off, a group dynamic helps a TON when it comes to keeping your motivation going.  You will get to know others through our posts on Strava and in our Zoom meetings. I am really excited about the two 15-minute one-on-one sessions that will help me get to know each of you better and as individuals. We will all of this technology to keep moving toward your goals. 

If we aren't meeting physically as a group, why shouldn't I just use a free Couch to 5K app for my training?

- While Couch to 5K apps can be helpful, with this program you get so much more than just a "beep" in your ear telling you when to run or walk. You will get a ton of motivation from your teammates whom you will "meet" using Strava and Zoom. You will have weekly motivational coaching emails from Coach Lisa as well as two 15-minute one-on-one coaching sessions using Zoom, FaceTime, or GoogleDuo. Aside from the training, you will also receive a training shirt, coupon, and entrance into the Blazin' 5K.
