You may have many questions about Humane Society of Pinellas or event day. Before contacting our team, please check to see if your question is answered on this page.

Who is the Humane Society of Pinellas? 
The Humane Society of Pinellas (HSP) is a no-kill animal shelter dedicated to providing individualized care for every animal that enters our care. Since 1949 HSP has ensured that no animal is euthanized for a treatable condition, we will always strive to provide the necessary care for each and every animal in our care.

Where is Walk for Whiskers 2024?
Walk for Whiskers 2024 will be held in-person at John R. Lawrence Pioneer Park, Dunedin. The address is 420 Main St, Dunedin, FL 34698. Participants also have the option to join us virtually from the comfort of their own homes.

Can I participate virtually?
Absolutely! We have virtual options available for both adults and children. This will allow you to participate in the comfort of your own home or community.

What if I registered and no longer wish to participate?
Walk for Whiskers registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. However, your registration fee still contributes to a life-changing impact through the animals we care for each day. 

How much does it cost to register?
The registration fee is $20 starting June 21st and runs until July 4th at 11:50pm. After this date the registration price will increase to $25. To view the current price of registration, please click the “Register” button.

Can I change my registration info or t-shirt size?
If you decide you would like to change your participation type, mailing address, any of your registration info, or your t-shirt size, please contact Gtopp@humanepinellas.org

What is included with my registration fee?
You will receive the following when you register to participate in Walk for Whiskers 2024: event t-shirt, entrance into the fun activities at our in-person event on September 21st.

What is the registration deadline?
Registration will be open online until the fun begins on September 21st, 2024.

Where should I park?
There are 195 parking spaces available at the Monroe Street Parking Garage located at 356 Monroe Street, under the Artisan Apartments on Douglas Avenue.  Parking is free except during special events when there is a street closure, at that time parking is charged $5.00 per car.  Please visit Downtown Dunedin Parking for additional parking availability and map. If I am participating in-person, can I have my shirt mailed to me?
If you are wishing to receive a t-shirt and are out of state please email gtopp@humanepinellas.org.

When do I pickup my t-shirt? 
T-shirts will be picked up at the in-person event on September 21st. If you are not able to make it in-person please contact gtopp@humanepinellas.org.

Are pets allowed at Walk for Whiskers? 
ABSOLUTELY! Pets are encouraged however do be aware that it is an open space with other people and dogs, please be mindful of your own dog's behavior in what could maybe be a stressful environment. Also please note the weather, we live in Florida where the weather is constantly changing. If you feel the heat may be an issue for your pet, please let them stay home. 

What does the funding raised from Walk for Whiskers go to? 
Every donation will go directly back to the animals at HSP. Your donation helps support medical expenses, on-site care of the animals, our community-based programs such as The Pet Pantry and much MORE!

Is there a fundraising deadline?
For your fundraising to count towards the 2024 Walk for Whiskers event, we must have your fundraising donations in hand by October 1st, 2024. All donations received after that date will be counted towards the 2025 event.

How can I get my company involved?
There are many ways for a company to get involved with Walk for Whiskers. For sponsorship or corporate involvement opportunities, please contact Gracie Topp Gtopp@humanepinellas.org. If you are interested in group volunteer opportunities, please email volunteer@humanepinellas.org.

What do I do with cash or check donations I have collected?
Please mail any cash or check donations to the Humane Society of Pinellas. Please be sure to make checks payable to Humane Society of Pinellas and include Walk for Whiskers in the Memo line. It is also important to include the team and/or participant information so the donation can be credited properly. Donations can also be brought to our in-person event on September 21st.

Is my registration fee or donation tax deductible?
Humane Society of Pinellas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. Donors will automatically receive a thank you letter and tax receipt via email if the contribution is made online. Supporters who make a check donation will receive a letter in the mail shortly after the Walk for Whiskers team receives the contribution. Please note that registration fees are NOT tax deductible, as participants are receiving a good/service in exchange (event day T-shirt, medal, etc.).
