Race Venue

  1. Where will be the races be held?  The YMCA Indoor Triathlon will be conducted at the North Lexington Family YMCA at 381 W. Loudon Ave., Lexington, KY 40508.  
  2. What time does the race start?  The indoor triathlon event will be conducted in waves of 8-10 athletes at a time. The first wave will start at 7:00am with additional waves starting at 35 minute intervals (approximately). Start times/waves are selected upon registration for the event. Please plan to arrive about 45 minutes before your scheduled start time.  You must check in and be body marked 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.
  3. Where will I park?  Parking is available in the main parking areas at the YMCA location. 
  4. Are spectators allowed? Absolutely! We also need volunteers to help out and your friends and family would can watch as they help out. Check out our volunteer registration page for more details.

Race Registration

  1. What is a Relay Team?  A relay team is a group ranging in size from 2 to 3 participants that will participate as one team. Team members will split the three stages (swim, bike, run) among themselves.  For a 3 person team, each team member will complete one stage. For a 2 person team, one participant will complete two stages and one participant will complete one stage.  
  2. When does online registration close?  Online registration will close on Friday, February 9 at midnight.
  3. Can I register on race day?  Sorry, but No.  Please register before online registration closes. 
  4. What are the age limits? All individual participants must be at least 14 years old on race day. Relay participants may be as young as 10 years old, but cannot participate in the run leg.  
  5. What do I get for my registration fee? Your registration fee includes a race t-shirt and race number, and a chance to win door prizes. NOTE: Race t-shirts are not guaranteed if you register after Friday, January 26, 2024.
  6. Is there a benefiting charity? Yes, all proceeds will benefit the YMCA of Central Kentucky.
  7. Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry. registration fees go to the benefiting charity and are non-refundable. Transfers may be available until February 9th by contacting the race director. 

Race Participation

  1. When can I get my race shirt and race number?  Packets will be available on race day starting at 6:00am at the race site.
  2. What time should I arrive? Please arrive at least 45 minutes before your scheduled start time (start times will be assigned closer to the race date).  You must check in and be body marked 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.
  3. How does the event flow? See the 'Event Details' page for more info about the flow of the race.  
  4. Can I use any tools to aid my swim? No. Snorkels, pull buoys, fins, paddles, etc. will not be allowed. 
  5. What gear will I need to participate? Goggles, running shoes, and clothes for each event are the only required items.  You may choose to utilize a swim cap and cycling shoes as well, but are not required to do so.  
  6. Can I change out of my swim gear before moving to the bike?  Yes.  Swimmers are asked to change into dry clothes in the appropriate gender locker room before moving to the bike. Towel drying is requested at a minimum before leaving the locker room. 
  7. Can I listen to my personal music during the event?  No. The Y will be playing music on a loudspeaker during the event to keep athletes motivated.  

Race Timing/Awards/Results

  1. Will the race be scored?  Yes! The race will be scored using a point system based on a curve of total finishers. The top finisher (covered the furthest distance) in each stage will be awarded 100 points, 2nd finisher will receive 99 points, 3rd - 98 points, etc.  This will continue for each event, and added together for a total score.  
  2. Will awards be presented after the race?  Yes! Awards for the top male and top female finishers, and top relays will be communicated by the Monday after the race date.  Door prizes will be drawn as well and given out upon race day check-in.  
  3. Can I find the results online?  Yes! They will be on this page, and also be posted to the YMCA of Central Kentucky's website by the Monday after the race date.
