The Magoeba, 3 Day Mountain Bike Stage Race, will be the first ever stage race to take place in the majestic Magoebaskloof mountains, and the premier race in the Limpopo Province. By providing an exceptional race experience, our mission is to expose participants to some of the best mountain biking in the country, offer sponsors a targeted marketing and engagement opportunity, build tourism in the area and benefit local communities through select outreach programmes.
Magoebaskloof Adventures and Haenertsburg Rotary, have undertaken the exciting task of hosting Limpopo’s first premium mountain biking stage race, in August 2018
Magoebaskloof and its village, Haenertsburg, have become a popular tourist destination due to the stunning scenery, quaint village, outdoor recreation and proximity to Gauteng. The area is also becoming known as an adventure sport destination. Events like the Ebenezer Mile, the Wolkberg Stage Trail Run, the Iron Crown Trail Run, The Wik Triathlon and the single day Magoebaskloof Mountain Bike Classic are growing every year.
Although Magoebaskloof has some of the best MTB terrain in Limpopo, there is no Premier MTB stage race. Tourism Magoebaskloof is actively promoting mountain biking in the area as a strategic project and thus there is already buy in from the local community and land owners.
Magoebaskloof Adventures and Haenertsburg Rotary are established and active in the community, local events, community projects and tourism. We are thus well positioned to maximise this opportunity and committed to investing in our community.
The race format will be 3 stages over 3 days, from one central venue in a clover leaf layout. Riders are guaranteed to enjoy breathtaking views, deep cool forests, pristine grasslands, gurgling streams and crystal clear lakes. Each day will bring its share of challenging climbs and awesome descents. Food and tented accommodation will be provided in the race village.
