Directions to the Zoo
The Philadelphia Zoo is located at the corner of 34th Street and Girard Avenue in Philadelphia's historic Fairmount Park, the world's largest landscaped city park. The Zoo is just two miles from downtown Philadelphia and parking is available along Girard Avenue at 38th Street and at the south end of the Zoo along 34th Street. The Philadelphia Zoo is serviced by SEPTA via Route #15 trolley and the nearby Route 38 bus.
Driving Directions
From the East
Access Interstate-76 by exiting PA Turnpike at Neshaminy. Take US RT1-S to 76E. Take Interstate-76 to exit 342 Girard Avenue. Turn left at Girard Avenue for parking.
From the West
Access Interstate-76 by exiting PA Turnpike at Valley Forge. Follow 76 to exit 342 Girard Avenue. Follow directional signs to turn left or right on Girard Avenue for available parking.
From Center City
Take the West River Drive to Sweetbriar Drive and turn left. At South Concourse Drive, turn left and go one block to Girard Avenue. To park, turn right on Girard Avenue or continue straight to the Tiger parking lot. Note that on weekends from April through October, West River Drive is closed at certain times to vehicular traffic. During this period, follow the above driving directions from the east.
Parking
There is Zoo parking along both Girard Avenue and 34th Street. Parking in a Zoo lot will cost $16. Handicap spaces and spaces for vans are available in both Tiger Lot and the Parking Garage.
From 76 westbound:
To Giraffe Lot: Proceed off ramp, make right at light. Lot is one block down on your right hand side.
To Tiger Lot: Proceed off ramp and make left onto Girard Ave. Go one block and make right onto 34th street.
To Zoo Garage: Take Zoo exit. Make a left onto Girard Ave. The Garage will be one block down on your left.
To Frog Lot and Zoological Drive Parking: Proceed off ramp and make left onto Girard Avenue. Go one block and make a right onto 34th street. Follow Girard to 34th and Girard Ave. Take right onto Girard. Lot is at the end of the zoo on the right hand side.
To Hippo/Sedgley Lot: Proceed off ramp and make left. Follow Girard 2 blocks to Sedgley Drive. Make right onto Sedgley Drive for parking.
From 76 Eastbound:
To Giraffe Lot: Proceed off ramp and make left at light. Lot is 2 blocks down on your right hand side.
To Tiger Lot: Take left at light coming off ramp. Proceed on Girard Ave to 2nd light. Make left at light onto Cambridge Street. Make u turn on street to come back on Girard Ave. Follow Girard to 34th and Girard Ave. Take right onto 34th. Lot is one block down on the right hand side.
To Zoo Garage: Take Zoo exit. When you proceed off the ramp, the Garage will be directly in front of you, through the light.
To Frog Lot and Zoological Drive Parking: Take left at light, coming off ramp. Proceed on Girard Ave to 2nd light. Make left at light onto Cambridge Street. Make u-turn on street to come back on Girard Ave. Follow Girard to 34th and Girard Ave. Take right onto Girard. Lot is at the end of the zoo on the right hand side.
To Hippo/Sedgely Lot: Proceed off ramp. Make right at light onto Girard. Follow 1 block to Sedgley Drive. Make right onto Sedgley Drive for parking.
