What does a team need to do to qualify?
To qualify for the cup, a team must have a minimum of five members! You do not need to be part of a separate running club or organization. Just get at least four of your friends together and come compete!

Is there a team minimum?
In order to qualify for the cup, a team needs a minimum of 5 members. The event they run does not matter.

How does the scoring work? (As this is the first year of the event, we reserve the right to tweak the scoring system).
Individual: When you register, you'll submit your best 5K or 10K time from the past year. We will add 60 seconds to your 5K PR and 90 seconds to your 10K PR. So if your 5K PR is 30:00, your EPARC goal is 31:00. You will earn one point for every second you finish ahead of 31:00. You will also get a 10-point bonus if you beat your PR. In this scenario, if you finish at 30:05, you will score 55 points for your team (1 for each second under 31:00). If you finish at 29:55, you will score 75 points for your team (1 for each second under 31:00, plus 10 bonus points for beating your PR).  You CANNOT lose points for your team, so if you finish anytime after 31:00, your score is zero.
Volunteers: Injured runners and club friends can still join in the fun and help their clubs. Each volunteer will earn an extra 5 points for their club. (Volunteers do not count toward the 5-runner minimum).
Team: The top 10 scores from each team will be combined to form the total team score.  If a team has fewer than 10 runners (min. 5), their average score will be multiplied by 10. We will then add volunteer points.

Will people cheat and submit some sandbag scores?
We certainly hope not. Fortunately, most race results are posted on-line, so we will verify your submitted time. We will also do a search to verify that it is your BEST time in that event from the past year. Of course, the whole point of this event is to bring together the area clubs for a day of fun and friendship. We hope that you'll all join in the spirit of that goal and represent yourselves and your clubs with integrity.

What if I haven't run a 5K or 10K in the past year?
You can still participate! Simply submit a screenshot of your best GPS-mapped run from the past year. We'll also encourage you to friend us on Strava or RunKeeper (or whichever GPS service you use) so that we can verify it's your best time.

What will happen afterwards?
The run starts and ends at Fitzwater Station, a favorite local watering hole. After the run, all runners will get a free beer and additional beer and food will be available for purchase. We will also have a free doubles cornhole tournament! Simply sign-up for the tournament when you register.

What does the winning team get?
The winning club will get its name etched into history on the RUNegade Cup. It will also get to keep the cup until next year's Run For The Cup AND choose one of the charities that will receive a donation for the race.
