Trapline Marathon 2015

Full Marathon
Bus Departs: 6:45 a.m. (from the E.J. Broomfield Arena)
Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
Start Line: Lester Burry Memorial Park, North West River

Finish Line: Kinsmen Park. All runners will be welcomed at the finish line with traditional recovery foods as well as a buffet of traditional Labrador food!

The full marathon leaves Lester Burry Memorial Park in North West River and ends in Happy Valley - Goose Bay at Kinsmen Park; following route 520 from start to finish, using the right hand side of the road.

This route is 61.5% flat, 18.4% ascending with a highest point of 68 meters above sea level and 20.1% descending. Runners would be treated to plateau views between Spruce Park and the Canadian Side, Gosling Lake, Mount Shana, the Goose River and a nicely wooded highway.

Half Marathon:

Bus Departs: 9:00 + 9:10 a.m. (from the E.J. Broomfield Arena)
Start Time: 10:00 a.m.
Start Line: Birch Brook Nordic Ski Club

The Trapline Astaldi Canada Marathon leaves the Birch Brook Ski Club and ends in Happy Valley - Goose Bay at Kinsmen Park following route 520 from start to finish.

Start Time: 11:00 a.m.
Start Line: Otter Creek Float Plane Base

The 10k run will leave from an Otter Creek start line and finish at Kinsmen Park with the marathon and 1/2 marathon runners. The 10k run will start three hours after the marathon start time in anticipation of the majority of runners will cross the finish line between 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The 3k Trapline Kids Marathon will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2015 at 9:30am. This event is open to all children ages 8 to 12 years old. This is a timed event. Registration fees include a medal and a timed race with simple snacks at the finish.

Children under 8 years old are encouraged to participate at no cost, however they will not receive a kit bag and there will be no official timing. These children do not have to register. They will have an opportunity to start once our registered children have left the start line.

Race kit pickup with take place on Friday, October 10th, 2013.

Buses Depart: No Bus, we request all racers to be at the finish line by 10:45am. Parents, if you intend on watching them cross the finish line we suggest not watching the start and heading straight to the finish line after drop off. Finish Line is at kinsmen park.

This year the 5km Trapline Youth Race was made possible do the combined and generous donations from Nalcor Energy & Scotia Bank. The race will be held on October 11th and will be for runners that fall between the ages of 10-18 years of age.

As with recent tradition following the race the trappers running club will be hosting an awards dinner. This always proves to be a great opportunity to meet local runners and those runners that come-from-away, catch up with friends and enjoy a (hopefully) less sweaty, post marathon party.
