Description

The Bulow Woods Trail Race and Ultra Marathon will not be happening in 2022.  Due to changes with park management, permitting and event costs the race will be taking a break this year.  Hopefully we will be bringing it back in future years.  Thank you to all out runners, volunteers and staff for making this such a fun event over the years.  We hope you will join us for some of our other upcoming races and our next trail race, Palm Bluff, in May.  You can go to www.RunnersHighRacing.com to see our upcoming events.

"Go Off Road for a Rum"

The 8th Annual Bulow Woods Trail Race and Ultra Marathon will take place on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 in Ormond Beach, Florida.  Do you love trail running?  Do you love the Tomoka Loop?  Experience the best of both worlds!  This race will take you into the old growth forests, oak hammocks and along the salt marshes of the Tomoka Basin State Parks and allow you to experience "the Real Florida" as it looked when the Seminole Indians lived here.   Bulow offers 3 different events -- something for every ability level.  There will be a 50K Ultra Marathon, a 1/2 Marathon and a 4+ Mile Run / Walk.  All events are on the Bulow Woods Trail which is a mixture of single and double track trails and old plantation roads which follow Bulow Creek through one of the best remaining stands of live oak along Florida's east coast.  All Events will start and end at the foot of the incredible 400 year old Fairchild Oak.  The 1/2 marathon and 50K will follow the trail (along a more technical section through lobloly pine and magnolias) all the way to the northern trailhead at Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park where the ruins of the sugar mill and springhouse from the 1800's remain today

A portion of the race proceeds will go to the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks to help maintain the trails and promote the Bulow Woods heritage.

Camping is available at Tomoka State Park by reserving your private spot through reserveamerica.com

There will be two tarps laid out for drop bags. One will be labeled course bags and the other will be drop dags/ finish line. Please make sure you place your bag on the proper tarp. Volunteers will be present to help you mark you bag with tape and markers.

50K runners -- If you place a drop bag at the turn around point please be sure to let the aid station staff know when you have finished with your bag and wish to have it returned to the finish line. If you don't tell the aid station staff your bag will remain at the turn around point until the end of the event when all remaining bags will be returned to the finish line.  It is your responsibility to tell the aid station volunteers that you are done with your bag. Drop bags that are not claimed at the end of the event will be donated to Goodwill or another local charity.

Sustainability

Here are some of the steps we have taken to reduce our impact on the beautiful areas covered by our courses:
*Race supplies and products use recycled material where possible and limit the use of single use plastics
*Runners must bring your own reusable cup, water bottle or hydration system. It can be filled quickly and easily at aid stations during your race.
*Recycle bins will be provided at the finish line for anyone who brings their own cans or bottles. Please look for them and use them only for can and bottles!
*All packaging material from race supplies will be reused or recycled
We thank you for your support of these efforts and welcome your suggestions on how we can do even more!
