The safety, health, and well-being is our top priority, and we feel it is critical to do our part in the global effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
For this reason, the 2nd annual Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run has been rescheduled. The new date will be Saturday, August 15, 2020.
Join the MICHIGAN STATE POLICE (MSP) on Saturday, August 15, 2020 for the 2nd Annual Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk and new for 2020 a 10K Run.
This is a family friendly event, all ages and abilities are welcome. The course will be run on the grounds of the MSP training academy and is flat. The Michigan Running Foundation will be on site to provide professional race timing. Results will be posted during the race and online at Playmakers.com.
Michigan’s Bolt for the Heart mission is to place an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in each Michigan State Police patrol car, and to provide preventative cardiac screenings for MSP troopers. Proceeds from the event go to support this wonderful cause.
Group/Family pricing: Register 3 or more people at the same time and save $3 per participant.
New this year is the VIRTUAL Bolt for the Heart 5k Run/Walk and 10k run! Details below!
Flexible start time: Start the race any time between 9-10 a.m, no crowded mass start, no more than 5 people will start at a time.
T-shirt: Participants registered prior to July 30, 2020 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. T-shirts available after that date as supplies last.
Awards: Medals will be given to all participants. Awards will be mailed to the overall male and female, overall masters male and female, and the top two individuals in each age group (men and women). Age groups: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
If you cannot make the Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run in person, but would still like to support this cause, you can complete the Virtual Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk or 10K Run! A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. All participants will receive a medal!
What: This is a Virtual race, so you choose your own course and time yourself.
When: Complete your race any time on or before August 16, 2020! Medals will ship at the end of August.
Where: You choose the course and you time yourself. E-mail MSP-BoltMichigan@michigan.gov with your results. You may include more formal results from your Garmin, treadmill, or other fitness tracking device (although this is not required) all we need is your distance and your time via email.
Why: We want to spread awareness of our mission to place an AED in each MSP patrol car, and to provide for preventative cardiac screenings for troopers.
Cost: The price is $25 and includes a finishers medal. T-shirts are available for $10.
