TROT Aid Station Overview

A Trail Racing Over Texas aid station is more than a place to refill your bottle—it is where runners regroup, cool down, refuel, solve problems, and receive incredible support from our TROT Trail Crew volunteers.

You can expect consistent hydration, familiar snacks, and an “ultra-running aid station buffet” designed to keep you moving. Our volunteers are there to fill your hydration containers, serve food and ice, answer questions, help solve problems, and provide encouragement when you need it most.

Core necessities—including water, ice when required by conditions, electrolytes, and basic fuel—will always be stocked. Specific brands, flavors, foods, and specialty items are subject to change and available while quantities last.

We also like to add something unique to each event, so you may find cake, pie, watermelon, Texas-shaped waffles, or another fun surprise waiting for you!

  • Texas-shaped waffles
  • Grilled cheese

Hot-Weather Support

Hot-weather races will include:

  • Ice
  • Additional event-specific cooling options
  • Gatoritas or other frozen treats when available

Dunk buckets and sponges are self-serve. All other ice must be served by an aid station volunteer.

For health and safety:

  • Do not reach into or self-serve from ice coolers.
  • Do not dunk your head, hands, bottles, clothing, or sponges into drinking-water or ice coolers.
  • Never drink directly from a water cooler or dispensing nozzle.
  • Ask a volunteer if you need ice or assistance.

Basic Medical and Foot-Care Supplies

Limited basic supplies may include:

  • Bandages and adhesive bandages
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Trail Toes or WildSense products
  • Tape
  • Feminine care products
  • Other limited first-aid supplies

Aid stations do not distribute NSAIDs, including ibuprofen. Runners should not rely on the aid station for personal medications, specialized medical products, or individual foot-care needs.

Personal Support Areas

Many TROT events include designated personal support areas where participants can keep their own gear, food, hydration, clothing, and race-specific supplies. These areas may also provide space for crew and spectators, depending on the event.

We strongly recommend bringing your own supplies if you have specific dietary, allergy, medical, fueling, hydration, or equipment requirements. Aid station offerings are intended to provide reliable general support but cannot accommodate every individual preference or need.

Please review the participant guide for your specific event for information about aid station locations, personal support areas, crew access, and available facilities.

Every TROT Event Is Cupless

TROT events are cupless. Every runner and pacer must carry a bottle, reusable cup, soft flask, hydration vest, or another appropriate hydration container.

Disposable cups should not be expected at aid stations or water-refill points.

No Littering

If you leave an aid station carrying food, wrappers, cups, or any other waste, that trash remains your responsibility until you reach the next designated trash can.

Do not:

  • Drop trash on the trail
  • Throw trash into the woods
  • Leave wrappers beside course signs or trail markers
  • Place trash anywhere other than a designated receptacle

Help us protect the trails, parks, ranches, and communities that allow us to host these events.

Important Aid Station Policies

  • Aid stations are for registered participants and registered pacers during the event only.
  • Aid station supplies are not available before the race. Come ready to run, bottles full.
  • Food, fluids, and ice will be served by TROT volunteers and staff unless an item is specifically identified as self-serve.
  • Crew members, spectators, and family members may not consume aid station supplies.
  • Only take what you need to get to the next aid station, no stocking up.
  • Participants, pacers, and crews should bring their own food, hydration, medications, and supplies for specific preferences, allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical needs.
  • Core necessities will remain stocked, but specific products, flavors, foods, and specialty items may vary by event and are available while quantities last.

Come prepared with your personal essentials, and our TROT Trail Crew will be ready with the hydration, fuel, problem-solving, encouragement, and unmistakable aid-station energy that make the TROT race experience special.
