Screenland 5K guests have crossed the finish line every year on Oscar Sunday in the Heart of Screenland since its inception during the Culver City Centennial Celebration in 2017. For the first time, the Academy Awards and the LA Marathon announced their events would be held on the same day, March 15, 2026. To accommodate the many Screenland 5K registrants, volunteers, performers, and service providers who also participate in the LA Marathon, the Screenland 5K committee last April scheduled the annual event for March 1, 2026. Even though the LA Marathon later changed its race date, the Screenland 5K committee stayed true to March 1, 2026 after its commitments to city agencies, performers, service providers, and hundreds of early registrants.
