New Date: Saturday January 31, 2026
Due to the winter storm warning and icing conditions planned for Saturday morning, we have decided to postpone this year's Bold in the Cold from this Saturday, 1/24, and reschedule it for the following Saturday, 1/31. This decision was not taken lightly, but as everyone's safety is the top priority, we felt it necessary to make this change. For those who cannot make the new date, we are offering a registration deferral $10 (5K) or $15 (15K) race transfer credit that can be used for one of our future races within the next year (either Double Trouble 2026 or Bold in the Cold 2027). Come Be Bold in the Cold!
Join us for the 26th running of Bold in the Cold, Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers (LGRAW) club's signature Winter event. Choose from a 5K or 15K race, both wind through the scenic C. Shane Wilbanks Trail along Lake Grapevine, offering breathtaking views of the lake.
This race is not only a community tradition but also a vital part of LGRAW’s annual operating budget, supporting our members and programs. In addition, 30% or more of this year’s race proceeds will be donated directly to the LGRAW Scholarship Fund benefiting local area track and cross-country runners.

Rescheduled Event Participants
Do I need to do anything to stay in this event?
- All participants registered for our postponed Bold in the Cold race on January 24, 2026 will be automatically registered for the rescheduled race date of January 31, 2026.
- Already picked up your race packet? There is nothing more you need to do until race day. You will need only to pick up your timing chip the morning of the race. Please remember to bring your paper racing bib from your packet on race day.
- Still need to pickup your race packet? Check packet pickup for updated times and locations.
Can't make the new event date?
- There are NO race events refunds.

- All participants received a technical race shirt with race logo while supplies last. The shirts are unisex and are in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL.
- Only the first 350 registrants are guarenteed a shirt.

Important Race FAQs
- Primary parking is at the Oak Grove Soccer Complex.
- Limit parking is available at Oak Grove Softball Complex. Only the north parking lot adjacent to softball field #4.
- All parking is free.
No. Best to leave any personal items out of site in your vehicle.
- Porta-potties are at the start and finish line.
- On the 5K and 15K course the boathouse turn has a few porta-potties.
- Near the 5K turnaround or 15K 1.5 mile point are some a few more porta-potties.
We do allow strollers and dogs on this course. However, keep in mind that all those with strollers and dogs will be asked to start at the back of the group to minimize congestion. Note that retractable dog leashes are not permitted.
Children in strollers don't need to register unless you want them to receive an event giveaway, such as a T-Shirt.
Please always be courteous and aware of the other participants around you.
- Start line: Both the 5K and 15K races will start together at 8:00 AM.
- Finish line: Both the 5K and 15K races have a common finish line.
- Both races are out and back courses, so the start and finish lines are near the LGRAW clubhouse.
- Refer the the race course map for speciifc start and finish location information.
- Aid stations will provide water and Gatorade.
- The 15K course passes aid stations four times.
- The 5K course passes aid stations twice.
- Water and Gatorade will also be available in the start / finish line area.
Both the 5K and 15K courses are run on a combination of asphalt and cement paved surfaces.
- We use the IPICO chip timing system with shoe tags.
- Participants will pick up their shoe timing chip on Race Day.
- Participants with shoe tags cross timing mats at the start and finish to get chip time race results.
- All timing chips must be returned at the finish line. Volunteers will assist with collection.
- 5K and 15K participants have 3.0 hours to complete the courses to receive a race result time. From 8 AM start till 11:00 AM.
- Park course trails are open to the public, so participants are welcome to take as long as they want to finish.
- All event registrations are non-refundable. Race insurance is available through RunSignUp.
- An option to defer your registration for a event transfer credit is available. $10 deferral (5K) or $15 deferral (15K) that can be used on a future race within the next year (either Double Trouble in October or Bold in the Cold next year).

- Transfers Between Events:
- Participants may transfer between the Bold in the Cold 5K and 15K events.

- Transfers to Another Person:
