EVENT DETAILS FOR TDB 2026
Thank you for registering for the Tour de Blueberry 2026! The Cape Fear Cyclists are so excited that you've chosen to ride with us this year. Here are some details to make this your best ride ever:
DATE: Saturday, June 20, 2026 [Rain or Shine].
TIME: WHEELS ROLL AT 8:30AM.
PLACE: Burgaw Middle School, 500 Wright Street, Burgaw, NC.
PARKING: Parking is available in the fenced-in field. The entrance to parking is near the intersection of Clark Street & S. Dickerson Street. HERE is the link/pin for the parking entrance. This lot will close at 8:00AM or when it reaches capacity. Overflow parking is available at the CFCC lot behind the school at 100 Industrial Drive.
NOTE: DO NOT PARK IN THE MEDIAN along Dickerson Street. Vehicles without a Blueberry Festival parking pass WILL BE TOWED.
When you exit the parking area after the event, please be cautious of other riders who may be finishing their rides.
DISTANCES 50-Miler, 50K (32 miles), 22 miles and 10 miles.
You can find maps of the courses on the Tour de Blueberry below. The verified RideWithGPS Collection is HERE. You can download them to your computer or watch or print out your own cue sheet. There will be limited printed copies of the cue sheets at packet pick-up. These courses are open to traffic. Courses will be well marked with tape and signs, but, it is ultimately up to the rider to know the course.
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED & MUST BE WORN FOR ALL DISTANCES.
PLEASE NOTE: Event officials reserve the right to close the bike course at any time for safety reasons. There will be intermediate cutoff at 1:00PM at Sand Hill AME Church. Riders who do not meet these cutoff will be transported back to Burgaw Middle School. All courses close at 2:00PM.

You may also pick up your swag at the event at Burgaw Middle School on Saturday, June 20 from 7:00AM - 8:00AM. Don't wait until the last minute!
Riders will receive a bib, safety pins, t-shirts and other gear. You MUST wear your bib (front or back) during your event. Make sure you fill out the safety information on the bib in case of an accident. Cape Fear Cyclist members will also receive a blue wristband (see membership perks below).
START LINE INFORMATION
ALL RIDES/DISTANCES START at 8:30AM. Participants are expected to fill in the traffic circle and the driveway at the school by 8:20AM for announcements. The start will be signaled by an air horn. Please roll out slowly.
Please line up by group with your expected rolling speed. Faster riders will be at the front of the near the arch and leisure-paced riders will be towards the back of the line-up.
A Group (Fast) – Typically rolling 22+ mph
B Group (Strong) – Typically rolling 18-20 mph
C Group (Moderate) – Typically rolling 16-18 mph
D Group (Leisurely) – Typically rolling 10-15mph
THIS IS NOT A RACE IT IS A RECREATIONAL RIDE.
This ride is considered a neutral start until you get out of downtown Burgaw and onto Old Savannah Road. Riders must stay behind the lead car (Town of Burgaw Police Chief) and the BLUEBERRY (IYKYK) for about two miles. This is a low-speed roll through town. Consider it a warm-up. Pretend you are in a parade. DO NOT pass the lead car. DO NOT pass the BLUEBERRY.
All riders must stay in the right lane of traffic. DO NOT USE the oncoming lane of traffic at any time. Do NOT cross the yellow line AT ANY TIME.
There will be SAG available on course to aid riders in need. These drivers will be able to help with minor tech issues (like flat tires and loose chains), minor first aid (cuts and chafing) and course correction. If you find that you cannot finish the ride, these drivers will be able to take you to Burgaw Middle School. In these cases, please call the SAG captain's number listed on your bib.

VIP CHECK-IN There will be a separate line for CFC members at Packet Pick-Up on Friday and Saturday.

WRISTBANDS: Cape Fear Cyclist members will receive a blue wristband for Saturday's ride. Please wear it at the event so that we can identify you.

VIP BREAKFAST LOUNGE Members will have access to the cafeteria from 6:45AM - 8:15AM. We'll have coffee and breakfast treats available for you! And best of all: indoor restrooms.

MEMORIAL MOMENT
This year, we are holding a memorial moment for Cape Fear Cyclists who have passed away in recent years. We will take a moment before the ride to recognize our members who have made an impact in our club.
We will read the names club members and recognize Tim Markley who passed away at last year's ride. You are invited to participate by bringing a bike bell. After our recognition, we will ring the bell 10 times to honor the moment.

PRE-RIDE BIKE SUPPORT
ERNIE'S MOBILE BIKE REPAIR & SPECIAL PEDALS will be at Burgaw Middle School to help with minor repairs before the event. They will be located near the basketball court. They will be providing assistance for minor repairs and maintenance before we get started and in-between loops. They may be help you inflate tires, patch tubes, reattach chains and help with stuck or loose brakes. They may not have replacement parts, a charge port for your electronic gears or equipment for sale. Please bring your own equipment (bikes, helmet and refillable water bottles).
MERCHANDISE will be available while supplies last. We have a limited supply of Tour de Blueberry bike jerseys and past TdB t-shirts. Please be prepared with cash for these items.
PRE-RIDE INFORMATION FAIR
Please stop by the big tent on Saturday before your ride to find out more about some of our favorite cycling groups. Find out what the Terry Benjey Bicyling Foundation and Special Pedals do in our community to improve cycling for all ages.
POST-RIDE INFORMATION
LUNCH: Lunch is FREE for registered riders. You'll be able to choose from one of our options: FUSION FRIES and WASABI WHEELS. Your bib includes a tear-off lunch ticket. Be sure to present your tear-off lunch ticket to the staff at one lunch station to receive your meal. Canned sodas, lemonade and water will be located in an ice chest near the cafeteria.
MISC INFORMATION
It is likely to be hot for our ride. Be sure to hydrate! Wear lightweight clothes. And sunscreen. Riders are expected to bring refillable water bottles. We are reducing our use of plastics and will provide limited single-use bottles at the aid stations. You will be able to refill your bottles with water and electrolytes at each aid station. We'll provide ice at each station as well.
PREPARE FOR HOT WEATHER OR RAIN The forecast is currently calling for temps around 90s and feels-like temps near 100. Please prepare accordingly. Hydrate! Wear lightweight clothes. And sunscreen. Riders are expected to bring refillable water bottles. In the event of inclement weather, please take extra measures for your safety and the riders around you. Slow down. Don't tailgate (draft). Use hand signals and verbal cues. In the case of lightning, please seek shelter immediately.
PLEASE NOTE: Event officials reserve the right to close the bike course at any time for safety reasons. If temperatures are above 90 on June 20, event officials may issue a cutoff time of 11:30AM to start the second loop. There will be intermediate cutoff at 1:00PM at Sand Hill AME Church. Riders who do not meet these cutoff will be transported back to Burgaw Middle School. All courses close at 2:00PM.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes. A friend, family member or teammate is welcome to pick up your ride bib and t-shirt.
Yes. There are four aid stations set up on course. Plus, there will be an aid station at Burgaw Middle School. Each station will provide water, Gatorade, and sweet and salty snacks. Water & Gatorade will be served out of large gallon coolers. Riders are expected to bring their own reusable bottles for nutrition/hydration.
Registration will be available on the day of the event until 30 minutes before the ride begins. Online registration by credit card only.
The BLUE, RED and YELLOW routes close at 12:30PM. The GREEN loop closes at 1:30PM.
The food trucks will be available between 10:30AM and 2:00PM. Sandwiches and other food will be served in the cafeteria until 3:00PM.
