Details

Help sign up race participants as well as volunteers at the Hyattsville Arts and Ales Festival on Sept 20th. You will meet at the Zombie Run tent. The Zombie Run tent will be located off Farragut street across the street from the music. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to shift to familiarize yourself with the materials that will be used for sign-up.

Also, the 5:45pm to 7pm time slot is to provide assistance breaking down booths, tents, and cleaning up at the conclusion of festival.

Course and Main Site Set-Up Medium Priority

Details

Assist with setting up the main site of the race. You may be helping to move and erect pop-up tents, set tables and chairs, set up signage for sponsors, decorate with bunting or pennants, place sponsor signs down the entrance to Driskell Park, hang larger banners and feather banners on Hamilton, ensure all tents are labeled and ready for sponsors.

Help Assemble Race Bibs and Chips for Race

Help assemble race bibs and chips prior to the race so the race packets can be ready in time for packet pick-up on Friday.

Details

These positions are the most important race day volunteer position as you keep the race track safe for the runners.

Job description: You work with cars either letting them through checkpoints until race time or holding them until the race is over. You will also help to redirect them to ways around the site. Great communication skills are necessary.

More details: We will also hold a short training session prior to race day usually the weekend prior to race day. Attendance at the training session is not a requirement to volunteer as a course marshal just a chance to ask more detailed questions in a group setting.

Help with set up. Specific jobs will be assigned as needed on race day, but may include helping with on-site race registration, distributing race packets, t-shirts, handing out finisher medals, hanging signs, handing out noisemakers in the Zombie Zone, or staffing tents (included but not limited to HES PTA tent or runner refreshment tent). Please indicate if you have a specific place you would like to be placed or if you are up for whatever is needed!

Help give water to racers along the race course. Responsible for setting up water station and clean-up. Looking for 2 houses along the race course to set up stations.

Assist with breaking down the main site of the race. You may be helping to move and take down pop-up tents, tables and chairs, remove signage for sponsors, bunting or pennants, sponsor signs down the entrance to Driskell Park, larger banners and feather banners on Hamilton. Volunteers should be able to lift heavy objects and be in good physical condition.

Race Day Registration + Packet Pick-up High Priority

Details

Volunteers will sign up runners who register on race day. Volunteers will also assist runners as they pick up their runners packets. Job will entail registering runners, taking payment, marking off runners as they pick-up packet and shirt and answering questions. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your volunteer shift .
