Volunteer Check In High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for explaining the "duties" to each volunteer, help to make sure that all spots are adequately filled during the time of the race, and reallocate volunteers as needed. This position will be assisted by Volunteer Coordinator from Above the Fold Events.

Parking High Priority

Details

Volunteers will instruct participants and spectators on where to park. They must be willing to direct with safety flags and have the ability to construct a safe and successful parking flow in a large grass lawn.

Chip Timing High Priority

Details

After checking in race morning, participants will receive a chip timer from the volunteers at this station. Volunteers will hand out chip timers that correspond to the athlete’s bib number.

Body Marking High Priority

Details

Before the start of the race, volunteers will write the participants bib number clearly and legibly on the backside of the participant’s upper arm and calf, as well as their age on the calf.

Transition Captain High Priority

The transition captain is in charge of monitoring and running this area. All transition volunteers will report to the captain.

Transition High Priority

Details

Transition volunteers will make sure the transition area (swim to bike, and bike to run) stays clear of spectators. Transition volunteers also need to instruct participants in the right direction when leaving the transition chute.

Certified Lifeguard High Priority

Details

Lifeguards will be in place to ensure swimmers’ safety. They are to rescue any swimmers that are in need of assistance. Lifeguards are to alert medical officers should the need arise.

On-water swim course volunteers will be in canoes/kayaks on the water to monitor swimmer safety and alert lifeguard if needed. *Must provide own kayak!*

Swim Course - Land High Priority

On-land swim course volunteers will be stationed at the lake's entrance and exit point. They will stand knee-deep in the water to assist them out of the lake, as well as direct athletes in right direction.

Aid Station Captain High Priority

Details

Aid Station Captain will play a key role. This person needs to be able to lead and organize several groups across the entire bike and run courses. They will report to the Volunteer Coordinator. Aid station volunteers will assist in setting up the aid stations, mixing energy drinks, pouring liquids into cups, and handing them to runners. Volunteers will assist in keeping the aid station clean and organized. At the end of the race, they will help pack up once the Race Director calls last runner. Aid Station volunteers will report to the Captain.

Details

Aid station volunteers will assist in setting up the aid stations, mixing energy drinks, pouring liquids into cups, and handing them to runners. Volunteers will assist in keeping the aid station clean, organized, and free of disposed cups. Volunteers also need to make sure the area surrounding the aid station is free of disposed cups, bottles, etc. At the end of the race, they will help pack up once the Race Director calls last runner. *This is a good option for school groups and church groups!*

Bike Course Marshall High Priority

Details

Bike Course Marshalls will ensure the safety of the participants along the course. Volunteers are to cheer on athletes while making sure the course stays clear of spectators and other obstructions. Some Course Marshalls will be stationed at corners and turns to direct athletes in proper direction. *If you have a bike and would like to have a larger role, we will need one Bike Marshall to circle the course and keep an eye on everything.*

Run Lead (Cyclist) High Priority
