Description

Come play at  of one of the most fun and scenic events on the west coast. This race has a sprint and international (Olympic) distance triathlon, with relays and aquabike categories for both races. Clydesdale and Athena registration categories are available.

There is a special, non-competitive Family & Friends wave for people who are new to triathlon or just want to race with family and friends regardless of age or gender.

Sheltered swim and flat bike and run course make this a perfect place for your first race or a PR. Voted one of the best late season triathlons in the country. The bike ride is a totally closed course and both the bike and run courses follow the coastline to create one of the most scenic races around!

Stick around and play for a day at the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk or visit the Surfer Museum or National Marine Sanctuary Center.

Want to improve your open water skills?  We have a series of open water swim clinics this summer - July 11 - July 25 - August 1 - designed to help you prepare for this race, or other local races this year.  The clinics are only $25 each, USAT Sanctioned and taught by certified coaches.  Each clinic is limited to 25 people and designed to give you personalized attention as well as an opportunity to get familiar with the swim course.

The increased participation of women in the sport of triathlon represents one of the fastest growing segments of endurance sports.  This is the second year that we have offered an 8-week session to help first time women triathletes, or women who want to improve their performance, at the sprint and Olympic distances.  You'll gain useful skills in all three disciplines and learn about the 4th discipline in triathlon - transition and information on nutrition, and rules (yes, there are rules for racing!).  The cost of this clinic is only $195 for two months of clinics, training plans, and coaching support.  It's a really good investment in yourself, especially if you're thinking about participating in your first race and don't really know where to start.

USAT Paratriathlon Friendly Course

The sprint distance course at Tri Santa Cruz is a designated paratriathlon friendly course.  In 2018 it was host to the USAT Paratriathlon Nationals prior to the Olympic Games.  This year we are proud to host the USAT Western Regional Paratriathlon Championship.

Live Action From 2017 Race

Check out this cool drone footage shot by Jeff Tse from Tri Santa Cruz 2017.  The weather is perfect this time of year with no fog and calm waters in a protected bay.  Perfect for first timers and experienced athletes alike.   This can be your short course PR for either the sprint or the international (Olympic) distance race.

Autism Family Network Santa Cruz is dedicated and committed to Bridging the Gap within our communities for those individuals on the Autism Spectrum and those with Special Needs by providing education, resources, special events, public awareness and acceptance for all.
