So far in 2023, Sheboygan County Food Bank has been serving about 5,000 families each month through their network of food pantries and other partner agencies. This is up almost 60% percent from 2022 as inflation and other challenges are keeping the cost of living high.
The Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk is Sheboygan County Food Bank's primary, annual fundraiser event. Staff and dedicated community members organize the event as a committee, while local businesses and organizations provide generous in-kind donations and sponsorship commitments. Making Spirits Bright is a key partner that offers their venue before it's open to the public for the season.
Sponsorships, registration fees, purchased shirts and other gear, and donations for this event directly support Sheboygan County Food Bank's work to make sure nutritious and fresh food reaches our neighbors in need. In the first five years of this event, a total of about $230,000 has been raised!
