Description

Obatron Productions' exercise arm, Obatron Fitness, is proud to introduce a new race series, West of the River Series, about three years in the making. Enter the whole series or choose individual races. Walker and mobility-impaired friendly. Diet sensitive. Virtual.

See the COVID-19 UPDATE under the "More" section of the race home page for information regarding what's changed and why. As a result of the pandemic, the race descriptions have changed. The reimagined series version marries the concepts of on-your-own and on-location as well as the concepts of the original race and this new virtual format.

What You Get

  • medal personalized with your name on the back for each race
  • technical race shirts (short sleeve for June Jaunt, tank for The Potato Run, and long-sleeve for Barbecue Bash Half)
  • food-themed kits appropriate to each race

  • reduced price training, should you choose to add it (discounted from normal pricing and even more when training for two or all three with us)

  • a race-specific recipe contest with non-vegan and vegan categories

Registration for or upgrading to the whole series should be done before starting the June Jaunt. We may open a special upgrade window before The Potato Run for those who participated in June Jaunt, but did not register for the whole series at that time. If you do all three races, but do not register for the series, we cannot guarantee you will get the gift due to administrative logistics of tracking participants, but we will try.

You might have surmised there is an emphasis on food! I grew up hungry until I could earn money myself to buy food, and while my company, Obatron Fitness, isn't a non-profit, each race will include three charitable components: 1) fundraising drive via registration for each host town's food program for those in need; 2) a food drive for the same organization on race day; and 3) a percentage of proceeds after expenses are covered will be donated to the organization.

Training Also Available
See menu for training options.

Discount Offers & Referrals
Entering the series rather than individual races gets you pricing equal to or less than the total of the individual race fees (depending upon when you register), a lower RunSignUp fee than the sum of the fees when registering separately, and a series gift. The training offered through the series registration page is at a much reduced price including bonus workouts not normally offered with Obatron Fitness group training. If you are a member of GRTC or Obatron Fitness, you get a discount at checkout for that. Additionally, you may earn back some of your registration by having other racers use your personal referral link, generated after you register. See the "Referrals" section for more information.

Awards and Swag
No formal awards are planned for winners due to the nature of the virtual event. However, you are encouraged to enter your time to establish a race history with us and for the fun of it. Besides, you never know what may happen as the series gets underway! There will be race shirts, medals, goodies, and earned extras. Plus, the more sponsors and participants we get, the more goodies we can put in your mailing.

Gender Designations

We recognize there are those who would rather not pick male or female when asked to choose. Unfortunately, we've not seen a way to provide other options within that field's parameters. As such, we ask your understanding that we are limited by the nature of registration tools and finite resources rather than disregarding anyone's preferences in how they are addressed or define themselves.

Additional Details

I will post additional details as they are finalized. Any changes will be updated here, on the Obatron Fitness Facebook page, in our series Facebook group, and communicated through RunSignUp messaging.

Packet Pick-up

Since we've gone to virtual, there will be no packet pick-up for 2020. All items will be mailed after we receive the medals, shirts, and other items that will be ordered upon conclusion of the race. We are not ordering ahead of time to enable as many people as possible, including last minute folks, to participate.

When we are in-person for 2021, as Robin Hood Racing is timing the series, packet pick-up will be available at Rochester Running Company prior to the race. Exact time and date to be announced as we get closer and race day packet pick-up will also available 45 minutes prior to each race.
